CG & VFX for Product Films

SweetSpot represents CG, VFX and AI studios that support agencies and production companies delivering high-end product films. This includes work for automotive, fashion, consumer tech, luxury and design-led brands where visual precision and craft are critical. Our role is to match each brief with studios that have proven experience in the specific product category and to stay involved through bidding, production and delivery.

Where CG excels in product work

CG and VFX are often used when products do not yet exist physically, when full control over lighting and materials is required, or when extreme detail is needed. Typical use cases include photoreal packshots, exploded views, technical breakdowns, hero visuals, slow-motion detail shots and environments that would be difficult or expensive to build physically. We help producers choose teams with the right aesthetic and technical experience for each category.

How these projects are typically structured

Some product films are fully CG, while others combine live-action with synthetic elements. Timelines often include look development, material testing, lighting exploration and multiple client review rounds. We support producers by helping scope the work realistically, compare bids from different studios and ensure expectations align with budget, schedule and level of detail.

Frequently asked questions

Is fully CG cheaper than filming products?
Sometimes, but not always. CG can reduce costs when products are unavailable, fragile, constantly changing, or require extreme visual control. For simpler setups, live-action can still be more efficient.

Can this work replace traditional product photography?
In many cases, yes. High-end CG is often used for e-commerce, global campaigns and long-term asset libraries where consistency matters.

Do you represent studios with experience in specific categories?
Yes. Several of the studios we represent specialise in areas such as automotive, footwear, watches, cosmetics and technology, which makes a significant difference to final quality.

Can CG be used for social content as well as hero films?
Absolutely. Many projects involve building a core set of CG assets that are then adapted across multiple formats and platforms.

When should SweetSpot be brought in on product work?
Ideally when the approach is still being discussed. Early involvement allows better decisions around whether CG, live-action or a hybrid solution is the most effective option.
